But yeah, did they /know/ that a Balrog was what killed Feanor? Cuz you'd think that if they had, Maedhros would have realized that bringing a bodyguard of elves wouldn't be enough. Drat, now I'm actually seriously pondering this
There he would have perished, had not his sons in that moment come up with force to his aid; and the Balrogs left him, and departed to Angband.
So yes... Maedhros was definitely holding the Idiot Ball at that point.
You know, the first time I saw one of your "Silmarillion: The Good Parts", it was sort of a guilty pleasure. I was firmly determined not to find this funny.
